The last time we saw Just Toys’ “SquishMes” was with their assortment based on Five Night’s at Freddy’s (read my review HERE). Today we take a look at a unique new property called Aggretsuko! If you’re like me, you’re probably wondering what the heck Aggretsuko is. My first impressions was that of one moody cat. I wasn’t too far off…
Aggretsuko is a relatively new anime character (2016) designed by an artist named “Yeti” for Sanrio – the famed makers of Hello Kitty. Aggretsuko, however, is not a cat in the true sense of the word, but rather a red panda, or red bear-cat. I’m not seeing much panda in the animal, but it does eat bamboo, so there’s that. Regardless, Aggretsuko is cute as a button and yes, she’s very emotional.
This new series of SquishMes shows off the many moods of Aggretsuko – a total of eight expressions, to be exact. Like Five Nights at Freddy’s, these are NOT blind bagged, so you know exactly what Aggretsuko expression you are getting.
Aggretsuko expressions range the full gamut of moods – from crying and sad, to smiling and glad, to in love and confused.
My absolute favorites though are Aggretsuko’s raged out looks. If you watched the video introduction above, you’ll see that Aggretsuko likes karaoke, in particular rockin’ heavy metal (my kind of red panda!). In this mood, Aggretsuko appears like a member of the rock band KISS, which is nothing but a good thing.
As the SquishMe name implies, each Aggretsuko is very mashable, yet springs back into shape after a few seconds. Like Five Nights at Freddy’s, these SquishMes are also scented. Again, it’s pleasant vanilla aroma. While only one character, the wide range of feelings Aggretsuko expresses in this assortment keeps things fresh. Some of the looks are pretty darn similar, however, so be sure to dig around to get the one(s) you like best.
Aggretsuko SquishMes are in stores now distributed exclusively in the U.S. via UCC Distributing.
