Just in time for the release of Splatoon 2 on July 21st (this Friday!) for Nintendo’s Switch console comes this new assortment of Splatoon key rings. Produced by Tomy of Japan and released in the U.S. exclusively via UCC Distributing, this blind bagged series is all about squids. In Splatoon, the multicolored cephalopods are what your game character, an Inkling, can transform into. This allows you to swim around the ink-filled environment, all while replenishing your ink supply.
It is often a challenge to collect all the unique characters in a blind bagged assortment. Thankfully, Tomy’s Splatoon series makes things a little easier for you. Instead of relying on many characters to hunt down, the Splatoon series has just one: a squid. The fun is in collecting all the different colors!
There are six (6) squid to collect, including Green, Orange, Purple, Blue, Turquoise, and Pink. Each counter display contains 24 blind bags, and out of the 24 I opened, I received four complete sets. So for those that want to collect all six colors, your odds are pretty good. Word of advice: If it’s a full display box, dig around. The first four I opened in a row were turquoise! How’s that for weird?
Each squid figure measures about 1 1/2 inches long and is made of a very durable, rubbery plastic. These are sculpted and have some 3D depth to them, however they lean towards the flat side. They’re perfect for stuffing in your pocket if you decide to use them as an actual key chain. They also look great dangling off a backpack. I’ve got the green one on mine 🙂
Splatoon fans are gonna love this series. You really can’t go wrong with any squid you get as all the colors are awesome. These are in stores now priced at an affordable MSRP of $4.99 each. Splat on!
