In our previous review HERE, we showed you the first new releases from UCC Distributing based on the Cartoon Network’s hit animated series, Steven Universe. Mini figures and wobbling Rockerz were the name of the game, all blind bagged/boxed for adoring fans to collect. Today we take a look at two more mystery Steven Universe items that are ready to hang out in your collection: Figure Hangers from Just Toys and adorable mini plush clip-ons from Zag Toys!
STEVEN UNIVERSE FIGURE HANGERS
Clip-ons are all the rage with kids these days. Heck, even I like to hang one or two on my backpack and camera bag. They’re a fun way to show off your favorite pop culture property while strolling the convention halls. With this new assortment of Steven Universe figure hangers, Just Toys has given fans 11 different ways to flash their fandom in public.
Blind bagged, each counter display contains 24 mystery figure hangers. There are ten core characters to collect, including a rare chase figure, for a grand total of 11 figures. Actually the chase is not that rare, as I actually opened two complete sets of 11 with two figures to spare. Each figure measures approximately 2 inches tall and retails for a MSRP of $7.99 each.
Characters include: two versions of Garnet, Lion, Amethyst, Pearl, Peridot, and a whoppin’ FIVE different figures of Steven. Hey, he is the star of the show! These include a battle ready Steven with shield, Steven giving the peace sign, Steven flashing his navel gemstone, and Steven with outstretched arms.
The chase figure is Steven as “Tiger Millionaire,” his tiger wrestling persona from the episode of the same name. It’s nice to see a fresh new look for Steven as a collectible, so kudos to Just Toys for doing something different.
STEVEN UNIVERSE PLUSH CLIP-ONS
For fans that prefer their Steven Universe collectibles soft and huggable, the plush clip-on assortment is for you! Measuring approximately 4 inches, each plush has a handy dandy black clip attached so you can hang them from your backpack, purse, what have you!
This Zag Toys assortment comes blind boxed… and blind bagged! Each box contains a Mylar sealed baggy containing your plush prize. Each counter display has 24 blind boxes (or are they blind bags?) with a total of six (6) different characters to collect: two versions of Steven (standard and battle ready), Garnet, Pearl, Lion, and an all-new “character” not-yet-seen in any Steven Universe collection we have reviewed so far – a Cookie Cat ice cream sandwich! These also retail for a MSRP of $7.99 each.
Needless to say, Cookie Cat is my favorite of the bunch. You don’t have to be a fan of the show to appreciate a yummy-looking ice cream sandwich!
It’s a fine time to be a Steven Universe fan. With four great UCC Distributing Steven Universe mystery toy assortments now on retailer shelves – PVC minis, Rockerz, figure hangers and plush clip-ons – there’s bound to be something for you!
