Collectible mini PVC figures are nothing new. Their small scale makes it easy for collectors to display and amass a large collection. Putting their own stamp on the format, Zag Toys has introduced DOMEZ. The concept takes licensed mini figs fans know and love and encases them in…well, a clear plastic dome! Not only does this clever twist make each figure stand out more, but it makes displaying your collection even easier by allowing you to stack them. Gone are the space limitations of a flat display shelf. Now you can display going up, up, up!

Distributed exclusively in North America by UCC Distributing, Zag Toys’ newest collection of Domez is based on the hit animated series Gravity Falls. The show airs on the Disney Channel, which I sadly do not get. Wikipedia explains the premise:

The series follows the adventures of Dipper Pines and his twin sister Mabel who are sent to spend the summer with their great-uncle (or “Grunkle”) Stan, in a mysterious town full of paranormal forces and supernatural creatures. The kids help Stan run “The Mystery Shack”, the tourist trap that he owns, while also investigating the local mysteries.

As mentioned, I haven’t seen Gravity Falls, but anything with a rainbow-barfing garden gnome is cool in my book. The complete 8-piece Gravity Falls Domez collection includes: Dipper Pines, Mabel Pines, Grunkle Stan, Soos, Wendy, Waddles the Pig, Bill Cypher, and yes, a Barfing Gnome!

Blind bagged, each Domez measures approximately 3-inches tall and about 2-inches wide. In addition to their ability to stack and connect, the Domez plastic container also acts an excellent deterrent to “feeling” for a specific blind-bagged character. My only minor critique of the Domez concept is that you can’t remove the mini figure inside. Sure, if you’re bound an determined you can always break the tabs holding the clear dome in place, but being able to twist off the dome safely would have been a nice option.

Each counter display contains 24 blind bagged figures for a total of three complete sets of Gravity Falls Domez (plus an extra Dipper Pines used as “Buy Me” teaser). What’s REALLY WEIRD is that the first three Domez I unwrapped were Bill Cypher. The second batch of three I opened ended up being the Barfing Gnome. No random figures in between. What are the odds of that happening?! So if you find a full display of these in a store, be sure to dig around. Unless, that is, you want all Cyphers and Gnomes. I’m not complaining, as those two characters are my favorites of the bunch.

I’m really liking the clever concept of Domez. While it is slightly irritating not being able to take the figures out, the upside is being able to display an entire collection vertically. Fans of Gravity Falls (and Barfing Gnomes) are gonna love these. Check out our gallery below for more photos!

In addition to Gravity Falls, other Domez collections currently on the market include Kingdom Hearts (see our story HERE) and the recent release of Digimon! Each blind bagged Domez carries an MSRP of $4.99 each.
