Super Impulse – home to the “World’s Smallest” toys – was on display at Toy Fair showing off more micro wonders, along with a host of new licenses.
The Jim Henson classic HBO series Fraggle Rock immediately caught our old collector eyes, the colorful Fraggles and Doozers represented by plush and mini figures. Later this year look for small plush clip-ons, medium size plush, a large talking plush that plays the catchy Fraggle rock theme song, and an assortment of blind boxed minis.
Another timeless property on display was Gumby. The claymation classic will receive a Gumby Stretch toy, similar to Stretch Armstrong. Check us out playing around with the green guy above.
Gumby AND Stretch Amrstrong will also make an appearance in Super Impulse’s claim to fame: World’s Smallest. These micro replicas represent a variety of licensed toys, including GI Joe, Barbie, Magic 8 Ball, Silly Putty, and more! Super Impulse will continue to release these on blister cards, but has also introduced blind boxes. The company is having massive success with this retail format and I can see why, there’s really no bad toy in the bunch!
Speaking of small, Super Impulse amazed me with their new Tiny Arcade. Like their World’s Smallest, these shrunken down replicas of classic arcade games actually work with mini joystick and buttons, and by work, I mean the graphics are sharp and detailed (no crude vector graphics here), but on a screen the size of a matchbook. Simply amazing. Expect games like Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Space Invaders when these see release priced at around $19.99. each.
