    New WWRp Bertie MK2

    Next wave of battle-scarred 'bots...

    3A Toys will begin accepting pre-orders on their next wave of World War Robot Portable (WWRp) action figures tomorrow, October 22nd, at 6pm EST (October 23rd, 9am Melbourne Time). Designed by renowned sci-fi/fantasy artist Ashley Wood, this group of 6-inch scale battle-scarred robots will focus around the Bertie MK2. Singles will be carried by select retailers at a unannounced date, but will be the place to pre-order them first as two deluxe action figure sets. These sets will include:

    * Set of Seven (7) Berties in unique worn and weathered paint schemes. Set will consist of Deep Powder, Marine, Desert, Medic, Dutch Merc, Dirty Deeds (with bloody effect) and an exclusive Warbot (two eyes- not pictured). The Warbot will not be sold as a single pack. Each fully articulated Bertie comes with a corresponding WWRp Square (the single packs will inlcude one as well), detailed weapons and real cloth ammo packs.

    * Set of Twelve (12) Dirty Deeds Berties (set not pictured). Each Dirty Deeds Bertie will feature unique decals and a more varied selection of weapons. Two WWRp Squares will be included. This set will come signed by signed by Ashley Wood and Kim Fung Wong, owner of 3A Toys.

    Both sets will be priced at $220 (includes world wide shipping- PayPal only).

    3A Toys' WWRp Berties follow the debut release of the Brambles this summer (read our story HERE). This assortment is now shipping; 3-packs are hitting now, to be followed by the 6-packs and singles.

    I personally love these, but won't spend $220 on seven 7" figures. Maybe if they made them available individually for $30 - $35 each, I could swing it, but not in bulk like this...

    While I think they design of each 'bot is unique and very well designed, I'm not sure what people see in these "sets" as they all seem a bit too similar to me. I can see if one had a rocket launcher, one a gattlin' gun, one dual pistols, one a flame thrower, etc, etc...but these all seem to have essentially the same guns (minus the medic and DD version).

    This is essentially the same thing every company does with "variants" in that they make one base figure design and then repaint the heck out of it. The fact McFarlane does it with his HALO Spartans and people talk trash about them all being too similar makes me laugh as I personally see a wider variety of designs and differences in the McF spartans than I do in the WWRp sets (above).

    Again, I love these, but at that price, it's a no-go for me...
