Robot Chicken has become a staple in this generationís television lexicon. Short attention spans with juvenile tastes and a love of toys are most certainly welcome in this zany world of Emmy-winning stop-motion. The team at Robot Chicken has released several seasons on DVD already, as well as some other specials for Star Wars, but here, theyíre tackling the DC Universe. All your favorite DC Heroes are getting some real laughs at their own expense in Robot Chickenís latest Blu-ray and DVD release, the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special. Itís the same fast-paced, witty sketch comedy you all know and love but with more Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, and especially Aquaman, who becomes the center of most of the fun.

DC Entertainment, Warner Bros. Animation, and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios have all come together to create this special that aired last September, with even DC Entertainmentís own Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns on board. Directed by Seth Green (who voices Batman, Robin, and Aquaman), the DC Comics Special features an all-star cast that includes Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Breckin Meyer as Superman and many, many others such as Megan Fox, Neil Patrick Harris, Alex Borstein, and more. I especially like Paul Ruebens take on The Riddler.

While the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special is only one 23 minute episode, they packed on a decent amount of bonus features to make it worth your while.

    - The Making of Robot Chicken DC Comics Special takes you behind the scenes into the writerís room, the recording studio, all the way to set building and animation. (10 minutes)

    - Robot Chicken DC Comics Specialís Aquaman Origin Story: This quick minute-plus segment brings us into the writerís room to discover who thought up the original idea of using Aquaman as the butt of all jokes. It may have taken me longer to write this sentence.

    - Chicken Nuggets is a different way of watching the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special where youíll click on a chicken throughout the special and it will take you into more be details about the making of the show, with Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, Geoff Johns and Robert Kirkman.

    - Writerís Commentary: Youíre hearing Geoff Johns, Tom Root, Zeb Wells, Mike Fasolo, Matt Beans, and Kevin Shinick take turns commenting on which gag was their favorite, but hearing them laugh about the things in the background or experiences is certainly contagious.

    - Actorís Commentary: Listen in on Alfred Molinaís first ever audio commentary along with Abraham Benrubi, Alfred Molina, Seth Green, Matthew Senreich, and Tom Root as they discuss their childhood comic stories, desired super powers and more.

    - DC Entertainment Tour: A definite must for DC fans, this seven minute behind-the-scenes look takes you into the offices of DC Entertainment. Youíll drool at the product room, something I was lucky enough to see in person!

    - Stoopid Alter Egos: The Robot Chicken team dress up in their favorite DC Superheroes costume for their wrap party in Hollywood. Itís over three minutes of them making you bummed out that you donít work in such a fun environment.

    - Outtakes: Two minutes of goofs, flubs, and outtakes.

    - Deleted Sketches: See some of the other ideas as well as the commentaries on why they were taken out.

    - 5.2 Questions: Seth Green, Tom Root, and Geoff Johns answer deep questions about super powers and late night snacks.

The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special, though short, provides a good amount of entertainment for DC Comics and toy fans alike. I had a great time just watching the stop-motion animation as well as the various toys that were frankensteined into the special. The bonus features also provided decent entertainment and good fun for any who is a fan of Robot Chicken.

The Robot Chicken DC Comics Special is now available wherever DVDs and Blu-rays are sold.
