FIRST LOOK: WizKids Games Star Trek Attack Wing Dominion Faction

Star Trek fans, I’m sure you’ve been keeping up with updates from WizKids on all of the amazing Star Trek Attack Wing news.  A recently released, updated rulebook and a slew of new products are revitalizing the fun miniatures game, and we here at Figures.com are happy to join in on the cavalcade of reveals to see what’s coming down the line!  We’re going to have a series of Attack Wing previews for you this week and next, so make sure to check back early and often to see all of the great content.  This week we’re going to look at upcoming ships, captains, and upgrades for three different factions starting with today’s sneak peek at the Dominion!

One of the coolest (and deadliest) ships to emerge from the wormhole leading to the Gamma Quadrant is the Jem’Hadar Attack Ship.  It’s small and fast, and though relatively lightly armored packs heavy weaponry and exotic technologies making it a big threat.  There have been several versions of the Attack Ship in Attack Wing previously, and soon you can add the 6^th Wing Patrol Ship to your Dominion fleets.  Coming in at a shockingly lean 16 points this named vessel has a 3 primary weapon, 2 agility, 3 hull, and 3 shields making it well-rounded and tough to put down.

It’s also as flexible as most advanced technology vessels with four available actions: Evade, Target Lock, Scan, and Battle Stations.  It can carry two Crew, one Tech, and one Weapon upgrades, and its named ship ability gives it a bonus +1 attack die if there is another Jem’Hadar Attack Ship within Range 1!  Obviously you’re going to want to give the 6^th Wing Patrol Ship a dedicated attack wing; just remember to plan out your maneuvers carefully!

One of the Weapon upgrades you may wish to place on your 6^th Wing Patrol Ship (and you should!) is the dreaded Phased Polaron Beam that made short work of Federation shields in their initial encounters.  The new version of the old Dominion favorite costs only 3 points for a Range 1-2 secondary weapon rolling three attack dice.  It can only be mounted on a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship and fired from its front arc, and must be disabled to fire.  The true might of the Phased Polaron Beam comes in its special rules that ignores the target ship’s shields, and it can convert one Battle Stations roll result into a hit!

I’m sure Dominion players are going to be excited to get their hands on these new reinforcements!  And if your allegiances run more toward Klingons, Romulans, or others?  Well, just stay tuned…
