Looking for a good jolt of adrenaline while walking the convention halls at San Diego Comic-Con? Then the Alien: Covenant “Colonist Certification Test” is for you! This jump scare experience offers fans the opportunity to test their fortitude and attempt to be selected for Weyland-Yutani’s next colonization mission. It’s located at Booth #3529 where attendees can also pre-order Alien: Covenant on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD and receive one of 500 limited edition lithographs as a gift with purchase, while supplies last.

Things begin innocently enough, albeit a little on the creepy side. Once ushered into the first containment area, you are greeted by a Weyland-Yutani synthetic in the spirit of David. The actor nails the cold and calculated android attitude perfectly. Video screens surround the small party in the room, and after a small introduction of what Weyland-Yutani is looking for in you as a colonist, things start to get crazy quickly.
Basically it’s a “Best Of” montage of all the violent scenes in Alien: Covenant. For those that haven’t seen the movie yet, it’ll come as quite a shocker. For those that have seen the movie, like myself, it’s still an awesome experience of Alien kills and gore. While not my favorite Alien movie in the franchise, Alien: Covenant did succeed in delivering a raw, visceral experience; notably its re-imagining of the grisly chestburster scene from 1979’s Alien.
To further reward you for stopping by, attendees are given an exclusive 6-piece Weyland-Yutani pin set. These gorgeous enamel pins are well worth the price of admission. Not a bad deal for a moderate wait in line at Comic-Con!
Fans throughout San Diego will also have a chance to experience Alien: Covenant off the show floor. On Thursday through Sunday, convention goers can seek and take photos with the “Secure Egg Transport” featuring fragile and dangerous Alien eggs guarded by employees of Weyland-Yutani. The Alien Covenant Certification Test was so NOT worth the 2-hour wait. It made me so mad to wait that long in line to see a few minutes of montage footage from the film accompanying lots of vibrations from a few too many over pressurized subwoofers. If you want the pins, just buy them off eBay next week! Spend your time doing something more fun!
