DC Comics, Star Wars, Warcraft, Power Rangers, And More...
If you’ve walked into a toy aisle lately, chances are you’ve seen some gigantic action figures, and those are probably Big Figs from JAKKS Pacific. The company has really pioneered the large-scale figure at a low price point, and it’s doing very well for them. At New York Toy Fair 2016 JAKKS had on display a variety of Big Figs both available now and coming soon. These included DC Comics (Flash, Superman, and Batman in classic blue costume, black, and gray), Batman vs. Superman Dawn of Justice (Superman, Batman, Armored Batman, and Wonder Woman), Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers (Megazord - $59.99), HALO (Master Chief), and of course a bunch of awesome Star Wars characters. Joining the Force Awakens lineup is a BB-8 Big Fig ($49.99), a huge presentation with an articulated head, lights, sounds, extendable/retractable flame torch, stabilizer pegs, and more. With all of those built-in features this BB-8 does not roll. This summer will also bring 20 inch figures of Rey (in end of movie outfit with lightsaber), C-3PO (The Force Awakens and classic versions), Finn in Stormtrooper armor with removable helmet, and First Order Stormtrooper. There will also be a 31 inch C-3PO and a $29.99 deluxe Darth Vader with sounds and motion feature.
For the upcoming Warcraft film JAKKS is rolling out an array of products starting with 6 inch figures, a line of mini figures and creatures, roleplay items like axes and hammers, and of course more Big Figs led by Durotan. Those toys are scheduled to arrive in stores in the next month or so, though some have hit shelves early. Also on display at JAKKS were new Marvel Comics Tsum Tsum collectibles with a shockingly deep and cool character selection (coming Fall) and Nintendo items like sound plushes (Mario Bros. star and mushroom), Bouncing Mario, and blind packed mini figures. There will be more Nintendo Big Figs, with Metroid the next property tackled!
