    #4 NECA's A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (2010)

2010's re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street may have set Freddy Krueger's world ablaze, but it didn't exactly set the box office on fire. Regardless, the action figures and replica glove released by NECA were smokin' hot, with fans eager to get their hands on a piece of the new Dream Stalker. Of course it didn't hurt that fan-favorite actor Jackie Earle Haley was now donning the red and green striped sweater. Collectors had a choice of two Haley figures: pre-transformation "Fred Krueger" and a full-blown, extra crispy "Freddy Krueger". The coolest Elm Street item released was the REAL bladed glove prop replica. With its thick deadly knives and skeletal frame, the glove was an excellent homage to the orginal design all the while adding something fresh and new. Affordably priced at under $60, this well-crafted metal and leather contraption was to many Freddy fanatics... a dream come true.

#3 GENTLE GIANT DEATH TROOPER BUST

What's cooler than a Stormtrooper? A ZOMBIE Stormtrooper! Merging two of our favorite genres - the slick futuristic sci-fi of Star Wars and the sick decaying world of the undead - Gentle Giant's Death Trooper Bust was a homerun, right out of Geek Field. Whether you chose the standard version with bonus "Death Troopers" novel by Joe Schreiber or the deluxe edition with nifty swap-out parts, the Death Trooper bust was a horror collectible to die for. Long live the Empire!

    #2 SIDESHOW'S UNDEAD CARCASS PFF

Zombie fans have plenty to feast their eyes on this year thanks to Sideshow's on-going original property The Dead, the most impressive of which was The Dead: Undying Carcass Premium Format Figure. Standing over 16" tall, this polystone piece of undead art features more torn flesh and exposed bone than a slaughter house. Thanks to a removable blood-stained hospital gown and an exclusive head with a flesh-hungry expression, this is one statue that features more than one static display option. For high-end horror collectors looking for a centerpiece to their zombie collection, look no further...

    #1 NECA's THE EXORCIST

When it comes to horror, what can be scarier than a demonically-possessed teenage girl with glowing yellow eyes and the ability to turn her head in a complete 360 degree turn? The Exorcist has firmly held the #1 spot for scariest horror film in history and in 2010 NECA took the most memorable scene from the film and converted it into a timeless collectible.

NECA did not hold back on the details with this iconic piece and have created a replica of Regan’s bed with covered bedposts and all. Be warned, the The Excorcist Possessed Regan Box Set is not for the faint of heart and may creep the living begeezus out of people with its rotating head and movie-themed sound bite. This collectible diorama is hands- down the best horror based collectible of 2010 and an absolute must buy for fans of the film.

Re: BEST OF 2010 - Best Horror Toys

Yep, NECA sure scored a home run and made fans who had been waiting decades 100% happy with that Exorcist boxed set.

My personal fave Horror toys of 2010 were the Diamond Universal Monsters. The deluxe versions of the Creature with victim and the Mummy with sarcophagus were excellent. (I'm still trying to track down the elusive Wolfman which was a USA-only exclusive. )

I hope they'll continue with more characters that were never made before like Bela Lugosi the zombie master from White Zombie, the old gypsy woman from the Wolfman films, John Carradine Dracula, Dr. Pretorius from Bride of Frankenstein, Renfield from Dracula, Boris Karloff executioner from Tower of London, Dracula's Daughter, etc.

And I wish somebody'd do a matching-scale Fredric March as Mr. Hyde (1931). Same era as the Universal Monsters but technically not included with the Uni Monsters because it was made by Warner Brothers instead of Universal. -- Come on Amok Time or somebody, here's your chance!

Oh, and Amok's Elviras were a great idea too. How about doing Vampira next?
