Sideshow takes on greatly overlooked 2010 sci-fi horror film...

Sideshow has made a surprising Spooktacular announcement revealing that they will be producing a collectible from 2010's sci-fi horror film SPLICE. While one of my favorite movies of that year, Splice wasn't exactly a runaway hit - generally forgotten by fans in the wake of blockbusters Iron Man 2, Toy Story 3 and Inception. Still, it's good to see Sideshow take on the underdog and get some unique collectibles produced. As good overlooked films go, Splice is sure to become a cult classic.

That good or bad? :) I admit I was REALLY taken aback by the announcement, but I do love the film. Those two wormy things at the beginning would be cool as collectibles, but I'm sure it will be a statue of the female "splice" creature (forgot her name).

I did not see the movie. People I speak with were very black & white on the film, either they liked it or hated it. No one was grey in their view. My comment was neutral (pending viewing Splice for myself).

I was shocked that a film that didn't do so well and had a short run in theaters was selected as a product license. I don't see many people talking about it, or a large fan base for it. I would have preferred a number of different licenses, Underworld, Kothoga (The Relic), The Fifth Element, the Resident Evil movies, even the Monster Squad before pursuing Splice.

Oh, I totally agree - why I was taken aback by the announcement. More like a "what the heck?" feeling. Really odd choice for a collectibles license (and yes - bring on Fifth Element!).

See the film though. I'm one of those that really liked it for being intelligent and different. My wife, on the otherhand, really hated it. So yeah, pretty black and white - curious to where you fit in:)
