The Tonner Doll Company is well known for their expertly made fashion dolls and character figures so it’s no surprise that the latest film to receive an Academy Award in costume design is also one of the latest license to be featured in Tonner’s long line of dolls. Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland dolls have already been released but no collection is complete without Tarrant, otherwise known as The Mad Hatter.

Portrayed by Johnny Depp, Tarrant is exquisitely brought to life in a 17” articulated doll. Limited to only 500 pieces, the Mad Hatter is priced at $224.99 and essential to your Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland collection. A Futterwacken version of Tarrant is available for pre-order as well.

Tonner Dolls have always been dolls first and foremost and likenesses have been expressed loosely on occasion, but here, The Mad Hatter is captured in a very accurate likeness. But captured even more extraordinarily is the costume itself with custom embroidery and specially crafted hat, jacket, pants, and shirt. The details in this piece are some of the most intricate I’ve seen by Tonner and that’s no easy feat!

Tarrant comes packaged in a large box with the Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland design and not much else. Not included either are instructions on how to best dress your Mad Hatter either so you’ll need to do some research online to best capture the character. Shoes, socks, hat, and sewing kit bandolier will need to be put on before displaying.

I have long been impressed with the quality of Tonner Dolls but the Tarrant Mad Hatter is a true winner. It may scare most of your friends but it’s a real gem of a collectible doll.
