After several production delays and release date conflicts, Universal's The Wolfman has finally been released. This new re-imagining of the classic film stars Benicio Del Toro reprising the role of John Talbot (originally played by Lon Chaney Jr.). This time around, the Wolfman's
look is ten times more savage and menacing than the furry dog look of the classic film monster.

Since horror fans can not fathom not owning a hyper detailed collectible of this newly designed Wolfman, Mezco Toyz has come through with some great representations of the horror icon in the form of a 7-inch and deluxe 12-inch figure available in stores now. This week we present you with our 12-inch deluxe Wolfman figure review for your viewing and reading pleasure.

PACKAGING: The Wolfman is housed within a decorative full-color window box which showcases the figure inside the box and features a creepy
forrest motif which catches the mood of the film very well.

SCULPT: The artists at MEZCO have done an amazing job capturing the new look of the Wolfman from the new film. The facial expression on the
creature is rendered very well and captures the menacing and bloodthirsty look of the beast. Another thing that sticks out a lot on this piece is the torn apart outfit worn by John Talbot before he transforms into the beast. The hair on the body is very finely detailed and you can tell that a lot fine detailing went into the fabrication of the fur to make it look as realistic as possible. Overall, the sculpt on this figure incredibly detailed and top-notch.

PAINT: The 12" figure is professionally detailed almost flawlessly with
a wide range of colors that breathe life into the creature. The paint work features several accurately applied techniques such as dry-brushing that helps make the Wolfman's details stand out. One thing that stands out the most is how the creature's mouth is covered in a glossy/semi translucent crimson color which looks just like real blood.

ARTICULATION: Although this figure is articulated, the lack of
leg articulation makes it rather difficult to stand up without falling over. The main issue here is that the upper body is more poseable than the legs which does not make a lot of sense. This figure would have been much more versatile if it featured hinged knees and ankles which would have helped keep the figure standing firmly. Thankfully, the claws on the creature's feet help prop the figure up in several poses but since they are made of a very soft and flexible plastic, they may eventually warp from the weight of the figure.

This is a shame because the upper body is very versatile which allows the figure to be placed in very dynamic poses thanks to the blood spattered fabric shirt and vest which gives the joints a lot more flexibility. The 12" Wolfman features the following points of articulation:

- Ball-Socket Head
- Ball-Socket Shoulders
- Swivel Elbows
- Swivel Wrists
- Ball-Socket Upper Torso
- T-Crotch
- Swivel Thighs

OVERALL: The 12" Wolfman figure has almost all the attributes of a top rated collectible with the exception of the leg articulation. Regardless
of the the problem with the legs, this is an incredible 12" figure of the new Wolfman and an absolute must-have for Universal Monster or horror movie fans.
