"JD" Joins Color Tops Figure Series...
At the New York Toy Fair, McFarlane Toys gave the press a private behind-closed-doors look at several new properties they are working on for their adventurous new Color Tops action figure series. One property in particular is Gears of War 4, the gritty sci-fi shooter well-known for its brutal chainsaw-rifle kills. While photography was not permitted, McFarlane has now been approved to show off one hero of the game, named simply JD.'
JD will be joining McFarlane's simple, but effective new collector program called Color Tops (previously rumored to be the Red Cap Collection). The top of each box will signal the category (with icons) and wave with a new wave and color being released every few months. Figures in this series will stand 7 inches tall, include a display base and have an average of 15 points articulation. The amount of articulation will depend on the character, but McFarlane insisted that the prototypes on display at the show were not indicative of the final product.
Other Color Tops video game licenses shown to us behind closed doors include the main character played by Michael Fassbender from the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie, as well as a Pilot figure from Titanfall 2. An all-new Titanfall 2 mech was also shown, the larger figure to be part of McFarlane's 10-inch figure series, similar to what was started with Walking Dead.
