Authentic High-End Movie Statues...

A new player in the toy industry is Chronicle (www.chroniclecollectibles.com). Debuting for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con, the company prides itself in AUTHENTICITY. I can't stress that word enough, as each high-end movie statue is based on the screen used model/prop. Case in point is RoboCop 2's Cain. This intricately designed statue is as authentic as it gets, being molded from the puppet and original masters by Tippett Studio. To hammer home that authenticity, each Cain statue is signed by its creator, Phil Tippett, on the ginormous OCP display base. Getting the real deal isn't for the faint of heart, each Chronicle Cain statue to retail at $1200 (if paid in full with free shipping), or $1300 + $55 for the payment plan. The Cain Replica measures 16” tall, 10.5” wide and 6” deep and is expected to ship 4th quarter 2014.

Other massively wonderful Chronicle items on display included another RoboCop villain, ED-209, the Terror Dog from Ghostbusters and the Tanker Bug from Starship Troopers. The latter sci-fi classic will be followed by the Warrior and Hopper Bugs, as well as plans for a Rodger Young.

In addition to movie replicas, Chronicle will be releasing a series of vehicles based on the work of legendary sci-fi artist Syd Mead. The first two releases include the TX3000 and the Hypervan. The prototypes on display at Comic-Con gave collectors an idea of their large scale - the TX3000 and Hypervan each measure in at 18” long. Not shown at the show were the mirrored display bases each replica will come with. Another Syd Mead vehicle to see production in the future is the Aerodyne, a craft design that later became the "Spinner" for the hit movie Blade Runner.
