All-New Brand Ushers In Vinyl Idolz, Dorbz, More...
Leading up to Toy Fair, Funko teased art toy collectors with a a mysterious new project called Vinyl Sugar. Because of the radical new designs, some assumed Vinyl Sugar was a new company. It's not. Vinyl Sugar is an all-new brand from Funko with the specialized aim to fill boutique shops, as opposed to mass retail releases like their Pop! and ReAction figures.
New lines under the Vinyl Sugar brand include Vinyl Idolz (SRP $19.99), stylized licensed TV and movie characters (think claymation); Dorbz (SRP $9.99), 3" mini figures with a Fisher Price Little People vibe; XL Dorbz (SRP $25), larger versions of the standard Dorbz; Super Deluxe (around $79), large stylized vinyl figures; and Vinyl Vixens (SRP $25), curvaceous DC Comics cuties.
The many licenses for Vinyl Sugar will surely impress collectors. Vinyl Idolz stars the most, including characters from Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The Walking Dead, The Big Lebowski, Seinfeld, Young Frankenstein, Dodgeball, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Napolean Dynamite, and Say Anything.
Dorbz will receive characters from Marvel (with a bunch from Guradians of the Galaxy) and Batman (including tons of villains).
The Super Deluxe vinyl figure line will launch with Groot and Rocket Raccoon (with Dancing Groot accessory!) from Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as the fan-favorite Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool.
Vinyl Vixens have launched with the ever-popular Harley Quinn and will be followed by Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
