One of the most interesting characters in modern history, Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin was born a peasant in 1869 and became one of the most famous people in Russia before his eventual murder in 1916. Alternatively trusted and hated by the ruling class, Rasputin is the subject of plenty of myth and controversy, and as such has appeared in plenty of fiction and gaming settings (lately even in Paizo’s Pathfinder). The latest game to capture the spirit of the controversial man is the appropriately titled Rasputin, a board game from Blue Panther LLC and designed by Bob West. This independent board game has players taking the roles of assassins infiltrating the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg to eliminate the mystic, all while avoiding guards and each other to be the one to kill Rasputin! Today we’ll be taking a closer look at the game that includes cool laser-cut tokens, a beautiful game board, and innovative game mechanics featuring A.I. enemy movement, card-based special abilities, and much more.
