Amazing Film Props & McCune Masterworks Docking Station...
Profiles in History is a very popular auction house, specializing in Hollywood memorabilia and artifacts that every geek would love. This year they came to Comic-Con with a collection of amazing props that were actually used in films including the Tantive IV model from the opening shot of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, a TIE Fighter and X-Wing, the Winnebago spaceship from Spaceballs, and more. Attendees could get a good look at these historical items and relive film history.
Another section of the Profiles booth was devoted to McCune Masterworks, a company that designs and builds props for movies. They brought some of their own creations like an X-Jet built (but not used) for the X-Men films and a German submarine from U-571. Most interesting to me, and you if you’re a collector of spaceships, is their Nova Docking Station. Announced right before the show, McCune Masterworks is embarking on a product for the public, a unique modular and expandable docking station for your spaceships! This is a large scale item that can hold large models and toys like the Diamond Select electronic Star Trek ships and more. McCune is looking at starting this project with a Kickstarter campaign later this year and is currently looking for data from collectors on what we would want in such a product. If something like interests you at all I HIGHLY recommend you go to their website and fill out their survey (and tell ‘em we sent you). Let’s make sure this product is awesome!
