For the second year in a row at Comic-Con DC Collectibles offered press a private sneak peek at some of their coolest upcoming figures. At a hotel near the convention center we met with Kevin Kiniry, Jim Fletcher, and others to get the full scoop. On display were incredible new pieces including:
  • Icons Statues (New 52) Batman and Cyborg
  • Suicide Squad Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and Harley Quinn Action Figure 3-Pack
  • Designer Series Talon, Nightwing, and Batman Action Figures by Greg Capullo
  • Arrow Oliver Queen and Deathstroke Action Figure 2-Pack
  • DC Comics Bombshells Black Canary Statue
  • Wonder Woman The Art of War Statue by Jim Lee
  • Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure 2 ½ inch blind box figures
  • Batman Black & White Statues Batman & Joker (Capullo), Batman (Sean Murphy), and some upcoming renderings

Everything looked incredible, from the large scale statues to the excellent action figures. Notable was the new Nightwing, a character highly in demand from the fans. The Batman and Cyborg blew people away for their epic scale and lifelike detail, while the little Scribblenauts figures are simply adorable (and will be highly collectible in single blind box packaging).

Alongside all of that was another table of upcoming figures... but we couldn’t take pictures of them because they were still in early prototype stages. Among the “secret” items were images for upcoming DC Bombshells Zatanna (with rabbit!) and Stargirl statues, reminscent of World War II nose art designs. A trio of New 52 Kid Flash, Superboy, and Wonder Girl will begin a new Teen Titans lineup, and these figures are notable for some specialized articulation for character-accurate posing. Finally, a fully painted Covergirls Poison Ivy looked really beautiful.

The event was a lot of fun, and everyone in attendance (including DC legend Geoff Johns) had a great time checking out the new toys and statues. Look for a big celebration in late August when DC Collectibles releases the Murphy Batman, the 50th member of the long-running Batman Black & White lineup! Finally, while they didn’t have anything to show, the DC team assured me personally that there is more 3 ¾ inch goodness on the way.
