NYTF16: Funko Teams With Barbie and Playmobil New Rock Candy Brand and Licensed Playmobil Characters... CLICK HERE FOR A FUNKO TOY FAIR 2016 PHOTO GALLERY TOUR! On display at Toy Fair was a new Funko brand called Rock Candy. If the line looks familiar, that's because Funko is taking their appearance from Vinyl Vixens, a series previously under Vinyl Sugar, and rolling them all into a happy new, albeit slightly smaller scaled family called Rock Candy. The whole Funko Vinyl Sugar sub-category is no more, as all it did was confuse people. With that explained, you'll notice that some familiar DC Comics female superheroes were on display, along with a shocking new licensing arrangement: Mattel's Barbie. That's right, the eternal fashion doll and her many career choices will be represented in a series of Rock Candy vinyl figures. Also be on the look out for Barbie Mystery Minis. But if you thought the Funko/Barbie license was shocking, check out Funko X Playmobil. This licensing arrangement - made with the main Playmobil headquarters in Germany - was so new, that even Playmobil USA, which was at Toy Fair, had no idea it existed. The Playmobil figures from Funko will be 6-inch tall figures - much larger than actual Playmobil figures - so there is some separation there. Otherwise, this is a highly unusual move for Playmobil as they have never crossed over into licensed characters. Licensed Funko X Playmobil vinyl figures shown were Willy Wonka, Doctor Who, Back to the Future, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Sherlock. According to the Funko catalog, Ghostbusters will also see this treatment. Designs for Fallout, The Walking Dead and Supernatural have also been seen floating around on the internet.
