    NYTF16: NECA Mego-Style Action Figures

Keeping the 80's Alive, One Figure at a Time...

NECA's 8-inch retro clothed figure collection - an updated nod to Mego figures of old - have found a permanent spot on collector's shelves. The series has been delivering classic characters from NECA's many hot licenses, and in some cases, such as Escape From New York's Snake Plissken, licenses never seen before. That trend continues in 2016 with the addition of "Weird Al" Yankovic. Shooting to stardom in the '80s with such rock 'n roll parodies as "Like a Surgeon" (Madonna's "Like A Virgin") and "Yoda" ("Lola" by The Kinks), Weird Al continues to entertain legions of fans with his quirky humor, polka and accordion.

The surprises keep coming with NECA's Toy Fair debut of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. I would never in a million years guess we'd see toys from this movie. This most excellent figure 2-pack includes Ted "Theodore" Logan (a young Keanu Reeves well before his Neo days) and Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter - not sure where his career went). Together they are the most triumphant rock band 'Wyld Stallyns' traveling through time in a phone booth (included!). Party on, dudes.

Other new Mego-style figures on display included Captain Spaulding in his creepy clown getup from Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses, along with Leatherface as he appeared in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (My favorite film in the series. We need a figure of Dennis Hopper as "Lefty".)
