    SDCC14: Comic-Con Announces CHAPPIE

Neil Blomkamp's Next Dystopian Sci-Fi Movie...

Neill Blomkamp, the director responsible for the hit dystopian sci-fi thrillers District 9 and Elysium, is at it again - this time with a new movie oddly called Chappie. San Diego Comic-Con attendees got their first peek at the film through posters, banners (above) and sticker handouts (below).

After being kidnapped by two criminals during birth, Chappie becomes the adopted son in a strange and dysfunctional family. Chappie is a preternaturally gifted prodigy. He also happens to be a robot.

Chappie, set for release March 6, 2015, will star the rap-rave duo Ninja and ¥o-Landi Vi$$er of Die Antwoord as themselves (check out their strange music video below), as well as Hugh Jackman (X-Men series), Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Avatar), and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, The Newsroom). Chappie will be computer generated with frequent Blomkamp collaborator Sharlto Copley as his voice.
