Last week we took a look at a brick of boosters from the new DC HeroClix World’s Finest expansions (see the video and photos HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79659)), and players all over spent the weekend participating in limited pre-release tournaments to get their hands on the awesome figures before the set’s official release on February 10th. Well, the boosters in bricks and cases aren’t going to be the only things available to players on the 10th... there will also be a brand new World’s Finest Release Day Organized Play Kit featuring a new double-sided map and a limited edition figure of a character making its debut in HeroClix. We’ve got your exclusive first look at that figure, none other than Streaky!

Streaky the Supercat has been around in comics for a while, debuting all the way back in 1960’s Action Comics #261. Originally a normal housecat, Streaky was imbued with amazing powers after encountering X-Kryptonite from one of Supergirl’s experiments. The feline was subsequently able to go on more adventures with her person and the other “super pets” of the era with flight, invulnerability, super-speed, super-vision, and super strength. Streaky’s appearances lasted into the early 70s when the super cat was depowered, though later writers would include references to the feline in various books like Animal Man and Supergirl.

Streaky’s debut in HeroClix comes courtesy of the feline sculpt that appears twice in the main World’s Finest set for both the generic Black Cat and the familiar of Klarion the Witch Boy named Teekl. The base sculpt is a diminutive kitty that’s deceptively straightforward, but any cat lover/owner will immediately recognize the hunched sitting pose and if you look closely you can see fur details, a tail wrapped around the left side of its paws, as well as a cute little face. And while the generic is, of course, black and Teekl is brown with pale spots on the face and feet, Streaky is an orange kitty with intense yellow eyes and the character’s trademark white lightning bolts on either side of its body. Even better, the super cat adds to the base sculpt with a flowing red cape tied around its neck complete with the “S” shield in yellow!

Let’s take a look at Streaky’s dial. The Black Cat in this set costs an appropriate 13 points for a pest to bother your opponents. The Supercat, on the other hand, is 50 points of vicious secondary attacker on your team! For a fraction of your build this kitty brings Flight, a 4 range, Tiny size, the Superman Ally team ability, and a trait that lets you place Streaky adjacent to an opposing figure who moved away from it (and also makes it so that opponents don’t need to break away). Streaky’s dial is only three clicks long but offers initial Hypersonic Speed paired with Precision Strike and 3 damage before switching to Flurry and Blades/Claws/Fangs (which is fantastic with that trait!). All three clicks have a special defense power giving the kitty Super Senses and Toughness. Streaky plays best with figures who share the keywords Animal, Kryptonian, and Metropolis; the first two give this cat Additional Team Ability options! Lastly, it’s worth noting that the power and trait flavor text on the card is great with things like “Maintain Eye Contact At All Times” and “Cosmic Whiskers.”
