This week marks a very special announcement for Pop Culture Shock and Capcom. PCS is bringing fans a brand new statue of Akuma from Street Fighter, in honor of the very first character the partnership produced back in 2008.
"Akuma was what got the ball rolling for us. It was our first outing on the line." said President of PCS, Jerry Macaluso, "With our milestone coming up and fan demand at a fever pitch... it felt like the right time to revisit it. "
For Macaluso, the 7th year Akuma represents more than just another statue. "The new one is the accumulation of all the knowledge and experience we have accrued as a company since we started. In an age when most items are digitally created, I took the time to hand-sculpt him personally, just as the first Akuma was done.
The new Akuma statue now rendered in a larger, 1:3 scale size (the first one was 1:4), clocking in at a staggering 32" tall. No expense was spared in including tailored fabric costume, real wood prayer beads, light-up LED eyes and movie-quality acrylic teeth. In honor of the previous version's paint variant, an alternate "Shin Akuma" will be produced in limited quantities.
Pre-orders for the 1:3 Street Fighter Akuma statue start on March 9th at 3PM PST. Both versions will be priced at $850 and a limited of 350 pieces.
