Toynami loves Voltron. In fact, they love the iconic Lion Force robots so much that they plan on topping last year's popular Voltron 30th Anniversary Masterpiece action figure with an "Ultimate Edition". Now before fans that bought the 30th Anniversary edition start complaining, let me explain. That figure is the most accurate replica of the cartoon Lion Force Voltron that exists. Purists celebrate your hard-earned purchase. Toynami's new Ultimate Edition Voltron is for fans that don't mind a little exaggeration. It's not that this design is that radical in outward appearances, it just isn't restrained by the strict aesthetic of the animated series.

In creating the Ultimate Edition Voltron, Toynami first viewed each Lion Force unit individually and asked themselves "What can we do to improve the dynamic display possibilities of these figures?" The answer was more articulation, regardless of how the Lions looked when combined to form Voltron. It just so happened that these changes resulted in a Voltron that looks so much cooler.

New articulation points in question include tons of double joints, including pull-out shoulders allowing you to create great splayed-out pounce attack poses with each Lion. Each Lion's body is also able to articulate in order to achieve a more feline curve. Basically each Lion was designed with maximum posing options in mind; the end result giving each Lion a more natural and realistic stance. Combined to form Voltron and the individual Lion designs create a robot that's beefier - more muscular - for lack of a better description. Oh, and those Lion heads? In combined robot mode, each upper jaw splits and is articulated, allowing the head to act as fingers while clutching the Blazing Sword and shield! The neat thing is that the joint isn't even visible when in Lion mode because the seam runs down the nose. Too cool.

Ultimate Voltron will be a mixed high-end plastic design and will measure approximately 15 inches when combined. It will retail for around $350.
