Captain Action Enterprises held a panel at San Diego Comic-Con where they discussed how the timeless toy is branching out this year with numerous figure projects. Releasing for the first time-ever in 3 3/4" figure format will be Captain Action from ZICA Toys (see our story HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/51282-zica-toys-teams-up-captain-action-enterprises.html)). Look for Captain Action, Action Boy, Dr. Evil and the Silver Streak later this year. Fresh Monkey Fiction is introducing Captain Action as part of their 4.5" retro-inspired Amazing Heroes figure line (HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/59572-amazing-heroes-retro-style-super-hero-action-figures.html)), the Kickstarter project currently underway at kickstarter.com/projects/549582372/amazing-heroes-retro-style-super-hero-action-figur. Last but not least is Tonner's beautiful Lady Action (HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/55412-tonner-lady-action-ready-action.html)), the 16" British Superspy now in-stock at TonnerDoll.com (http://www.tonnerdoll.com/lady-action/lady-action).
CAE also announced the winners of their 1:6 Custom Figure Contest (read our story HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/58382-captain-action-announces-1-6-custom-figure-contest.html)). Fans submitted tons of creative entires, including Captain Action decked out as an astronaut (my favorite), Dick Tracy, Racer X and numerous DC superheroes such as Batman and Aquaman. A unique entry even had Captain Action dressed as GI Joe! Alas, only one could walk away with the $500 shopping spree. After some careful debate amongst the panel's judges, the winner was announced to be a TIE! These included Tom Pyne's "Black Terror" and Jase Marshall's "The Shadow" - both winning entires (which will split the prize) pictured above. Check out the runner-ups in our gallery below!
