It's no secret that Hobbit fans are loving the new films but always chomping at the bit for more toys and collectibles. The Bridge Direct is there to give you your Middle-earth fix with the 3 3/4 inch (this reporter's personal favorite) and 6 inch scales which while not the most expansive have provided kids and collectors with very high quality figures starring great sculpts and chock full of articulation and accessories. So what's on deck for the Hobbit that we learned at Toy Fair? Well, we can sum up the big news with one word: Smaug! That's right, Bridge is currently working on a Smaug toy that will be coming to retail. They couldn't share any firm details with us (a very rough Smaug box at the booth was just a placeholder), but they're working on everything from size and scale to potential features, all while making sure the price point is right. We will of course get you all the news on Smaug as we hear it.

In addition to the dragon tease there were plenty of cool Hobbit figures from the first two movies on display in the booth. A European exclusive three-pack featured the original Bolg design, while Bridge will be re-branding the white-faced and red bearded 6 inch figure as the Gundabad orc. In 3 3/4 inch there were tons of dwarves, and we should be seeing the remaining ones released with the third movie. Best of all, we got to check out brand new prototypes of Beorn and Bard, both with absolutely spot on sculpts and sized appropriately in the scale with the other figures. Again, stay tuned for more info on these new figures soon. Lastly, while they couldn't share any details The Bridge Direct is working on another Hobbit-related San Diego Comic-Con exclusive!
