2014 is going to be a fun year for Star Wars collectors, with a variety of products on the horizon including action figures in various scales and lines, vehicles, and some really cool new stuff! At Toy Fair we got to see a smattering of these upcoming offerings and we can't wait to see more. Let's start with Rebels, the new CG animation that will tell more stories taking place between Episodes 3 and 4. Coming to the 3 3/4 inch Saga collection will be the new big bad the Inquisitor, Chopper, Kanan (a "cowboy" Jedi), Ezra the young Jedi hero, Agent Kallus, and a new Stormtrooper. Mission Series two-packs will also feature a Stormtrooper vs. Zeb (inspired by the original McQuarrie design for Chewbacca) and familiar droids R2-D2 and C-3PO! Rebels will be getting a line of vehicles as well, with initial offerings including the Inquisitor's TIE Advanced Starfighter prototype, the AT-DP, and the Phantom. Look for plenty more from Rebels later this year.

The current overall Star Wars action figure line is, of course, the Black series. There were major announcements for the 6 inch series, starting with a new packaging scheme that notably allows for taller and larger characters. Hasbro is taking full advantage of that with Chewbacca, and this year will also see releases of an Episode 2 Clone Trooper, standard Sand Trooper, and Episode VI Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker! In the same scale Hasbro will be coming out with Jabba the Hutt and the first vehicle of the line, the Speeder Bike and its pilot Biker Scout (it even comes with a poseable display stand!). Meanwhile, the 3 3/4 inch Black series continues too with two new clones based on the final Clone Wars season plus R5-G19 and an upgraded Hoth Luke Skywalker.

There are plenty more cool Star Wars items coming this year, and we want to highlight a couple of them. First is the massive hero series X-Wing that's over 29 inches long! Not quite in 3 3/4 inch scale, this enormous starfighter is big and chunky, and best of all Hasbro is keeping the cost down to only $39. Also new this year is Star Wars Command, a "little green army men" type product with dozens of miniature characters and vehicles. Presented as a game for kids, the vehicles come with different modes of movement ("hovering" on ball bearings, mounted on pull-back motor bases) that you can use to knock over your opponent's figures to "win" the game. We got to see a ton of these little figures, and they're nicely detailed and have lots of fun features for kids like different colors and base shapes for good guys vs. bad guys, metallic leader figures, clear vehicle stands, and more. Command draws from all eras of Star Wars, and at Toy Fair there were figs and craft from the original trilogy, prequels, and even Rebels. And then there was the big guy... a massive Star Destroyer that features a unique remote control that lets you "use the force" to move it and unleash a barrage of projectiles!
