WETA is gearing up for the release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with a variety of authentic collectibles. First up is a 1:6th scale statue of the Elf Lord, King Thranduil. Measuring 13.4 inches tall, this majestic piece was sculpted by Weta Workshop sculptors Craig Campbell and Brigitte Wuest. It is limited to 1000 pieces and priced at $275. Pre-orders are open at wetanz.com with release this November.
Also up for pre-order is WETA's next 1:1 scale weapon replica, or replicas as the case may be. Presenting the Daggers of Tauriel, the elegant and deadly blades wielded by head of the Elven guard of Mirkwood. Measuring 18.9 inches long, each knife has been created from molds of the original weapons used in the film, using the same high impact urethane material as the props on set and finished using the same techniques and materials. Priced at $149, the Daggers of Tauriel are also limited to 1000 pieces and slated to arrive this November.
