Round 2 was on hand at New York Comic Con showcasing a variety of new model kits from a variety of exciting licenses. First to catch my attention was the announcement of new kits from James Cameron's action sci-fi ALIENS. Round 2, which has already released one kit based on the '79 classic ALIEN (read our review HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/30492-review-round-2-mpcs-alien-model-kit.html)), will also release from the film a 1:9th scale Kane and Alien Egg. Look for this approximately 6 inch tall kit in early 2014 to be followed later in the year by an Alien Queen and a 1:1000 scale replica of the Colonial Marine's space cruiser, the U.S.S. Sulaco. This cool ship wil measure approximately 15 inches long.

In other sci-fi model kit news, Round 2 is taking on Space:1999. Coming later this year, this "Signature Series" will feature the iconic Eagle 1 Transporter and a wild moon buggy called the "Alien". What's extra neat about these two kits is that the autographs of two Space:1999 stars - Catherine Schell as science officer Maya and Nick Tate as Alan Carter, third in command, chief pilot - will be randomily inserted into select kits. Round 2 wouldn't disclose the exact ratio (they're actually still working on it), but expect it to be rather limited. A cool bonus, indeed!

Another new license for Round 2 is the classic 1966 Batman Series. Fans of the campy show will receive a 1:25 classic Batmobile and 1:8th scale Batman and Robin. Other new superhero kits include the recently released 1:8th scale Wolverine (pictured above) and Captain America with the Mighty Thor joining the Marvel assortment in 2014. All three kits were sculpted by the talented Erick Sosa (read our past interview HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/11369-master-sculptor-erick-sosa-tells-all.html)).

In non-plastic model kit news, Round 2 will be releasing a reproduction of the vintage cardboard construction set called Marvel World. Originally released in 1975, this paper playset is highly valued on the secondary market and hard to find in good condition because... well, it was made of cardboard! Here's one on eBay now listed at a mind-dumbing $5,000 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-WORLD-ADVENTURE-PLAYSET-1975-AMSCO-/290990933778?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item43c0694712). Thankfully collectors won't have to pay that much for this exact reproduction, Round 2 setting pricing at about $40. The playset will include 26 characters, all which can be flipped over to reveal that superheroes secret identity! The set itself is rather complex, featuring a working elevator, opening garage door (revealing the Negative Zone!), break-away wall and much, much more.
