It's a Gundam. It's a Transformer. It's Gekiryujin!...

My knowledge on Brave King Gao Gai Gar is rather limited, but I do know that the main robot character is black and has this huge lion's head on his chest. In other words, he looks nothing like this character - Gekiryujin - which to me resembles a cross between a Gundam (the head) and a Transformer (in particular Devastator, aka the Constructicons). It is always interesting to see how anime/ manga propertites borrow and share (steal?) each other's ideas.

Anyhow, this new Brave King Gao Gai Gar figure - Gekiryujin - is part of Kotobukiya's "D-Style" plastic model kit series, which features various mecha rearranged into stylized miniature versions. Included in the kit are the individual robots FuRyu (transforms into a blue cement mixer) and RaiRyu (yellow dump truck), which join together to form the mighty Gekiryujin, a cute robot standing nearly 4 inches tall with multiple points of articulation. This new set consists of 130 pieces molded in pre-painted plastic featuring the individual color palette of each vehicle and robot. No painting is required and assembly is a snap.
Available July 2013.
