DOTA 2 "Axe" Action Figure - PROTOTYPE - Not Final Product
Part of NECA's action figure and collectible licensing deal with Valve is the rights to produce action figures from DOTA 2, a multiplayer online battle arena video game (it's an acronym for Defense of the Ancients). One of those DOTA 2 action figures has now been revealed by the Valve community site lambdageneration.com (http://lambdageneration.com/posts/weta-workshop-to-produce-official-dota-2-weapons-armor-and-statues/) and it's none other than "Axe", the same character that Weta will be transforming into a high-end statue (read our story HERE (https://www.figures.com/forums/news/16373-wetas-first-dota-2-collectibles-revealed.html)).
The action figure, shown this past weekend during PAX Prime at the The International DOTA 2 Championships, is an early prototype. NECA's Director of Product Development, Randy Falk commented that the figure was "done quickly for display" and is not final, however he agrees with us that it came out looking cool and "will be even cooler" when finished. The first DOTA 2 action figures are planned for launch in summer 2013. Further DOTA 2 figure details - such as other characters and how many figures will launch the line - are still being worked out by NECA, but Randy tells us that they should have some answers by Toy Fair in February.
