With the amazing success of Square Enix’ Arkham Asylum Play Arts figures, it is no surprise that several new upcoming prototypes were on display at the San Diego Comic-Con this year. The upcoming assortment of Play Arts Kai action figures will be based on the Arkham City video game and will consist of a brand new version of Batman, Catwoman and Robin. There was also a fourth unpainted Dark Knight Returns prototype figure on display inspired by the bonus downloadable skin from the game. Now that the Square has acquired the Arkham City license, the realm of possibilities for more characters is endless.

Aside from the amazing Arkham City Play Arts figures on display, Square Enix will also be producing figures based on The Dark Knight Rises film. The Dark Knight Rises Play Arts figures will mark the very first movie-based license for the company. Prototypes of the two main characters from the film - Batman and Bane - were on display but a Catwoman figure is also planned for release.

Another movie license that was announced is the upcoming Man of Steel film. While no further details were revealed regarding the figures, it is safe to say there will most likely be a Superman, Jor-El and Zod figure in Play Arts Kai form next year. Whether you’re into the Arkham video games, Dark Knight film or a hardcore DC fan, these upcoming Play Arts Kai figures are a definite must-have for your collection.
