Skylanders, 2011's #1 kids game, is about to get bigger - literally - with the release of Skylanders Giants this fall.
Skylanders Giants introduces twenty (20) new characters, among them eight (8) new super-sized Giants - such as Tree Rex pictured above - with powers to match. These Giant figures, which are twice the size of the main skylanders cast in both physical and virtual form, will feature new lighting technology (batteries are not required) allowing the toy to light up when near or on the Portal of Power. These characters have additional in-game benefits as well. We saw several examples of these benefits in the demo we watched at Toy Fair, the Giant able to access several new areas with its massive strength. One case was a floating island that the Giant was able to pull towards the mainland via a large metal chain and a secret treasure room that the Giant smashed into through the ground.
In addition to the larger, cooler figures, Skylanders Giants will feature wider worlds. Portal Masters will see all new arenas and more gameplay options in Battle Mode for exciting head-to-head play, as well as enhanced Elemental Zones, new Hero Challenges, and other features that encourage players to collect and level up every character. Every character from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure will be 100% compatible with Skylanders Giants, leveled-up stats and customizations intact.

Developed by Toys For Bob and published by Activision, Skylanders Giants will be available for the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, and handheld and mobile devices. Look for it in Fall 2012 priced at a SRP of $69.99 for the Starter Pack which includes the game, Portal of Power and several figures.
