Action figure playsets. We all grew up with at least one, but as the years have gone by, action figure playsets have fallen into obscurity. Precious retail real estate and the rising cost of plastics and manufacturing have all contributed to their decline. Vintage Star Wars playsets were favorites of my youth, but these Monster playsets from McFarlane really excited this adult collector. While they sadly didn't connect to form a beastly behemoth diorama, each small set came loaded with imaginative play possibilities. I only snagged the Sea Creature set, but upon reflection, I really wish I had grabbed them all.
