Toy Fair 2011 coverage brought to you by the following fine sponsors: BigBadToyStore.com (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com), Sekaido.com (http://www.yesanimation.com), and Collectibles Insurance (http://www.collectinsure.com/).

NECA continues to dominate the video game action figure market in 2011 with a slew of new figures from all the hottest titles. These include:

* Duke Nukem Forever (pictured top) - Duke Nukem Forever took forever to get made (13 years!), but damn if it isn't finally on the way. To celebrate the return of the wise-crackin' Duke, NECA will be releasing an 8 inch action figure this May. With hyper-articulation, Duke Nukem will include alien butt-kickin' magnum and a stogie for when he's done impressing the ladies.

* Bioshock - Big news was that NECA now has the license for Bioshock: Infinite, the anticipated video game that takes to the skies. Look for figures in 2012. Until then, fans will be treated to more denizens from the watery world of Rapture with a new Bioshock action figure assortment. Due out this summer (May/June), this wave includes Brute Splicer (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1174&title=bioshock&cat=605), Crawler Splicer (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1169&title=bioshock&cat=605) and a new Ladysmith Splicer (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1170&title=bioshock&cat=605) packing a sawed-off shotgun and new mask. To coincide with this assortment, a Deluxe Big Daddy Bouncer (pictured above) will be offered with working LED lights in its mask that changes color to reflect its "mood" (red=angry, yellow= neutral, etc). This is manually operated by a switch on its back and looks killer.

* Borderlands - Slated for release this April/May comes the long-awaited Claptrap. I'm dancin', I'm dancin'!

* Gears of War - Saving the best for last comes a slew of action figures from Epic's popular sci-fi shooter. To tide fans over until Gears of War 3, an assortment of GOW2 characters will see release. Coming in April/May, Gears of War Series 6 includes Skorge (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1098&title=gears-of-war&cat=540), Kantus Priest (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1097&title=gears-of-war&cat=540), COG Soldier (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1099&title=gears-of-war&cat=540), and Mauler Boomer (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1100&title=gears-of-war&cat=540). To coincide with Gears of War 3, all-new, hyper-articulated action figures will emerge. While still aways away, the line-up hasn't been set in stone, but figures on disply included Marcus Fenix (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1116&title=gears-of-war&cat=540) with Pendulum Wars Lancer, Dominic "Dom" Santiago (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1080&title=gears-of-war&cat=540) packin the new Double Barrel Shotugn, the new-and-improved war ready Anya (above) shown for the first time with Pendulm Lancer, and Damon Baird (http://toyfair2011.figures.com/showphoto.php?photo=1110&title=gears-of-war&cat=540) with with Pendulm Lancer and repair tools! While not on display, Cole and Carmine are also confirmed to receive action figures.

Speaking of Cole, the COG heavy hitter will get a fine resin statue of him dressed in his Thrashball uniform. This statue is shown in the game, thus the format for the collectible. Look for it this Fall along with the new figures. Like their previous Gears of War assortments, NECA hopes to keep new GOW 3 figures coming well after these initial offerings. At Toy Fair I also had the great pleasure of playing around with a prototype that fully demonstrated the incredible amount of articulation these new figures will include. Simply amazing stuff, with all the joints extremely well hidden in the sculpt. Highlights include new shoulder articulation similar to their Crysis 2 figure which allows the shoulder blades to flex back. New toe articulation and a rocker joint at the ankle will allow for more extreme poses. Fans will be very impressed.

How tall are the Gears of War figures? The look like they're 12", but I thought Duke Nukem was that tall too and he's only 8".

The new Gears figures (and Duke Nukem, BioShock, etc) will be 7 inches tall. The ones shown at Toy Fair are what are called 2-Up Prototypes. These are just that, prototypes of the figures that are twice the scale of the actual figure to capture all the detail. These are then sized down for production.

Thanks for the response. I wish they would release them in the bigger scale. I'm always looking for big figures to use in my stop-motion movies.
