San Diego Comic-Con coverage brought to you by Collectibles Insurance (http://www.collectinsure.com/), Big Bad Toy Store (http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/default.aspx), Sekaido (http://www.yesanimation.com/), and Monkey Depot (http://www.monkeydepot.com/Default.asp?Redirected=Y).
Fans of Japanese Super Robots have a new line of action figures to look forward to from Bandai. More affordable and easier to amass than Bandai's high-end Soul of Chogokin series, Super Robot Chogokin embraces the concept of "Compact x Impact," setting a new standard in robot figures.

Launching in the U.S. this month with Mazinger (pictured above), the Super Robot Chogokin series stars approximately 5.5 inch tall figures constructed of die cast as well as ABS, POM, and PVC composite materials. Articulation will be extreme for Super Robot Chogokin, Bandai utilizing articulation technologies from their Robot Spirits series. The figures will retail for around $40-$50, the price varying depending on the robot. Accessories will be a major focus for this line. Bandai is very mindful of diorama/display potential and will be releasing accessory packs when appropriate to help collectors along. A Mazinger Weapons Set scheduled alongside Mazinger is an example of this, the pack loaded with "Rocket Punch Effects" and his Jet Scrander.
Future robots to receive the Super Robot Chogokin treatment include Great Mazinger (September), Super Robot Wars' Alteisen (November) and many, many more.
