2001 saw Art Asylum come out with guns blazing, knocking the toy industry on their collective butts with a radical image and approach to making action figure collectibles. Take today's Card Back: EMINEM. While I question the tag line "The most controversial action figure line in history" (McFarlane's Tortured Souls easily earned that title in 2001, and well, still holds it), creating action figures of the notorious rapper was a very bold move at the time. I picked up the "Slim Shady" version, not out of controversy or his music, but because anyone wielding a chainsaw and wearing hockey mask is pretty cool in my book.
