SDCC 2016: Harmony Gold Robotech

rt

Harmony Gold was back at SDCC with some really cool Robotech announcements for 2016.  With the movie going full steam ahead over at Sony (they’re approaching the final draft of the script!), the team is doing a lot of other projects to get Robotech in front of both long time fans and new eyes with initiatives like the full series airing on Crackle, comic books with Titan, and more.  Even better, we’re getting new toys!  Harmony Gold brought along two of those, all new Super Deformed Veritechs from a Hong Kong company called KitzConcepts.  These incredibly detailed mecha are FULLY TRANSFORMABLE into all three modes and feature die-cast construction making them very heavy.  There are even lights built into the VFs’ heads and gun pods!  We got to see a prototype of the Rick Hunter VF-1J along with a Roy Fokker VF-1S in packaging, and down the line you know they’ll be bringing us more variants; they’re even looking at Fast Packs and Heavy Armor.  You can currently pre-order the VF-1S directly through Robotech.com.

While we don’t have photography just yet, Harmony Gold is also working with the company Kids Logic on 1/6 scale action figures complete with real fabric outfits and helmets.  We saw some shots of a prototype Rick Hunter and he looked really fantastic.  These are just the tip of the iceberg, and we’re going to be hearing a lot more from Harmony Gold in the coming weeks with more products and fun stuff on the way!  Keep your eyes here and we’ll bring you all the news.

Seriously, @!#$ Robotech. Shoji Kawamori wants his Macross back.

  2. Plenty of room in this world for love of both Macross and Robotech.

  3. Rubin is right. As long as they make fully articulated Zentraedi warriors and characters I don’t care where they come from.

And Bioroids – nobody else is going to make those.
