New York Comic Con 2017 coverage brought to you by Eaglemoss Collections.
Star Ace has been making a splash on the sixth scale action figure scene for several years now, their work with Harry Potter and 300 highly respected by collectors. While their 1/6th scale work will continue,t he company introduced two new size formats at New York Comic Con.
The first was a towering Quarter Scale “Master Series” figure of Christopher Lee as Count Dracula from the 1970 Hammer film Scars of Dracula. Fans of the actor are going to love this piece, which releases second quarter 2018 at a price still to be determined.
Another new scale on display was 1/8. Approximately 9 inches tall, licensed characters shown in this new attractive collectible size included The Flash and Arrow from their DC Comics television shows, along with a trio of characters from the Harry Potter universe. The latter included Harry Potter himself in his Tri-wizard outfit, Lord Voldemort, and an awesome Dementor. Releasing in 2018, these newly scale figures will feature a much more attractive price point than their higher-end cousins, for example The Flash carries an MSRP of $123.99 as opposed to the $250+ a sixth scale figure would retail for.
While not a new scale, a Kong: Skull Island figure was shown. The approximately 13-inch ape will see release as a detailed vinyl figure.
Not to be forgotten, Star Ace will continue to produce realistic 1/6th scale collectibles. New licenses on display at NYCC included Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield from Pulp Fiction, Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, legendary actress and model Marilyn Monroe (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes).
