Way back in February 2020, right before COVID-19 flipped the world upside down, I provided an advanced review of Gecco‘s first statue of the Wraith based on the hit horror survival game, Dead By Daylight. You can read my review of the unique playable Killer class HERE. Needless to say,  things got pretty dark during the next 2 years as everyone figured out how to cope with the new reality of the pandemic, everything from manufacturing to shipping.

While things looked pretty grim for Gecco, I’m pleased to report that the company is back, and with it, their next planned Dead By Daylight statue: the Trapper! Shipping out now (order HERE), the 1/6th scale piece is priced at $359.99.

Housed in a ginormous box adorned with gorgeous Dead By Daylight character art, the Trapper impresses on his arrival. Unlike The Wraith, which was cast in detailed PVC plastic, Gecco opted for polyresin with The Trapper. Aside from a slightly heavier weight, the change in materials comes up with the exact same results: an extremely detailed, realistically sculpted statue (both statues sold at the same price point, I might add).

As for safe shipping, Gecco still provides the same utmost care in packing – long ditching fragile Styrofoam for a more durable molded black foam material. The official Gecco sticker seal of approval guarantees that nothing was tampered with after packing.

Assembly for the Trapper statue is rather straightforward. The first step involves plugging the character onto the brick display base via two powerful magnets in the feet. Next, attach the Trapper’s freaky faceplate. This was done so you can activate the included light-up eye feature! Just like the Wraith, the Trapper’s eyes can glow a dead white or crimson red. Again, I much prefer red (it’s just more evil!).

The downside of the light-up feature is the wire armatures that wrap around the Trapper’s mutilated head. You have to remove them each time you remove the faceplate, which is kind of a headache. It doesn’t help that these fragile pieces take some trial and error to get right in position, to begin with. You’ll eventually figure it out – there are only so many ways they can go.

Other plug-in parts – due to their delicate nature – include two plastic arm spikes and a hook that goes into the Trapper’s back (both are very easy peasy procedures).

The final step is simply plugging in the Trapper’s mighty meat cleaver. Cast in detailed PVC plastic, the bloody blade hammers home the Dead By Daylight Killer’s hulking, brute force savagery.

Oh, how can I forget the bear trap- only the best part of playing the Trapper in the game?! This wonderful Killer perk is soooo satisfying to use in the game. Just place a few all over the map and wait for that glorious *SNAP* sound and blood-curdling scream. That means you just caught yourself a Survivor! Run over and meat hook that bad boy before he/she gets away. Sadistic? Oh yeah. Fun? Oh YEAH.

With this fun character-specific accessory you can opt to have the Trapper hold the bear trap closed in his bloody left hand, OR you can carefully open the device and place it on the display base. I much prefer the former as it appears more menacing (unless he was coming over to inspect or set it I don’t see why it’d be on the ground by him). The piece is cast in PVC plastic and the rust paint job on it is so hyper-real, you can feel the tetanus setting in.

The rest? Just kick back and admire all the horrific, realistic detail of the Trapper! Fully assembled the sinister statue measures in at a staggering 14-inches tall. The Trapper’s character design is so wild and disturbing. His white, expressionless mask is what sells the Trapper as a soulless killer, but it’s the random deep cuts and metal hooks embedded in his putrid flesh that hint at an otherworldly, supernatural horror.

I love to collect unique horror collectibles like the Trapper statue. My collection already has enough Freddy Kruegers and Jason Voorhees – I long for something new. Gecco’s Dead By Daylight Trapper statue fills that desire by providing an amazing representation of a horror villain – while not as wildly known as Freddy or Jason – in the most realistic collectible format possible. Being a Dead By Daylight video game fan certainly helps justify this purchase – and make no mistake, this $359.99 statue is only for the most serious of fans. However, if you have the cash, the Trapper statue speaks volumes about wicked cool horror design. Those that haven’t even played Dead By Daylight are sure to appreciate this grisly piece for what it is.

As for the future of the Dead By Daylight license in Gecco’s hands? I reached out to the company and they informed me that the next scheduled Killer – The Hillbilly (read our story from back in March 2020 HERE) – is still a go! Dead By Daylight collectors can expect that statue to drop this May. The Spirit, shown off as an unpainted prototype back at Wonder Festival 2020 HERE, still needs more time to get ready. Gecco hopes to have it out by year’s end.

Welcome back Gecco!
