Would it kill these artists to find out what a horse’s teeth actually look like? The whole reason why we can use a bit in a horse’s mouth is because there’s a gap between the front set of teeth and the molars in the back: otherwise (as is shows here) would have a metal bit hitting teeth. Uncomfortable and temping the horse to grab the bit!
I also hate this cliché of showing the hero being really harsh on their horse’s mouth. It’s so imperial statue, blehhhhh
(The girth is also really far back but tbh I expect that from fantasy artists. Shame, still…)
