NEWS FROM THE FRONT
Off and on, I’ve read collectors and Joe fans lament that Hasbro doesn’t sell 12″ Joes in the stores any more or that the Club is closing its doors and we’re in for the Dark Ages of Joe collecting. Nothing could be further from the truth. Whereas I too am sad to see the Club go (am friends with both Brian and Lanny and the crew), we fortunately live in a day and age (technologically) to be in touch with thousands of other Joeheads. Also, Joe themed shows like Toylanta, Kentuckiana GI Joe Toy Expo, DFW G.I. Joe & Action Figure Show, Hershey Action Figure and Toy Show, and many others have popped up over the US to fill in the void (scroll down below to see our UPCOMING TOY SHOWS listing – it’s BIG).
Hasbro hasn’t made a 12″ set in years? True, but look at the likes of Hobbycrash (ie – Geyperman) in Spain, Captain Cosmos in France, and Brazil’s Estrela with their re-introduction of their successful Falcon line.
Custom makers are popping up left and right – 6 Scale USA, Mattsquatch Customs, Quartermaster’s Depot, Louco Por Bonecos, G.I. Joe Knickers, Corrigan Holsters to name but a few. Heck, even Mark Cole is back with his fantastic custom made uniforms and outfits!
If anything, we are in the Silver Age of G.I. Joe collecting. The fans will keep that flame burning strong, and Cotswold Collectibles will do our best to keep the supply chain full.
