Big Debut Of Guardians Of Harmony...
Just before New York Toy Fair 2016 Hasbro “leaked” some news, and one of the biggest stories concerned a whole new line of My Little Pony toys. The Guardians of Harmony series brings the inhabitants of Equestria to a new action figure-like format with hard plastic toys, lots of articulation, accessories, and plenty of fun extras. In the showroom we saw a variety of the first Guardians toys including Pinkie Pie with Party Cannon, Rainbow Dash, Shadowbolt, Twilight Sparkle vs. Changeling, Queen Chrysalis vs. Spike, and more. The premiere item in the launch of this series will be Spike the Dragon, a massive toy with lights, sounds, removable armor pieces and attachment points for other figures, and launching projectiles! Guardians of Harmony will also branch out beyond articulated figures to include some very cool static pose statuettes, the first of which will be Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon replicating their stylized look from the story of their battle back in the first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
Of course, Hasbro will also be continuing with more My Little Pony toys targeted at younger fans like the chunky pony toys with real hair, playsets, a new plush toy, and more. Meanwhile, the Frienship Is Magic collection centered around the 2 inch or so hard plastic ponies will get the theme of Nightmare Night this year with blind bag figures and static sets featuring your favorite characters dressed up in costumes! Also on display were more upcoming Mini figures, which Hasbro reps assure will have improved hip articulation to alleviate the issues some collectors have had.
