    NYTF16: Kotobukiya Marvel Comics

    Thanos Dominates Toy Fair...

Japanese toy and statue giant Kotobukiya brought a very impressive display to New York Toy Fair 2016, and it included a section devoted to the heroes and villains of Marvel Comics. What immediately caught our eyes was the enormous Fine Art Statue of Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet! He’s beastly and huge, was sculpted by Erick Sosa, and will include two portraits: one grinning and the other baring his teeth. Also on display from the Fine Art Statue line was the upcoming Black Panther which looked awesome.

The Marvel Bishoujo line is going stronger than ever, and representing it in the display case were the two beauties Lady Deadpool (with cool alternate heads and parts) and a prototype of the recently announced Spider-Gwen which will be a fan favorite. A new reveal at the show was the full color artwork for the upcoming Thor and Loki!

A separate display case held two entire teams of Marvel ARTFX+ characters: the Avengers and the All-New X-Men! This was the first time we’ve seen a painted prototype of the finale figure of Wolverine, and there was also a production version of Beast. In that display were both color variants of Magneto, and while only the black-costumed Emma Frost made an appearance over at the Diamond Select Toys booth attendees could see the variant in white. Meanwhile, as Wolverine finishes the X-Men team Kotobukiya is looking ahead at the next ARTFX+ series which will focus on everyone's favorite web-slinger! Expect to see Spider-Man, Venom, and other related characters in a lineup based on artwork by Marvel's Stefano Caselli.
