Celebrating 75 Years Of Batman With Toy Hall Of Fame...
DC Comics is a regular exhibitor at WonderCon Anaheim, in no small part due to the proximity to the company’s headquarters in Los Angeles. Their booth usually looks like a toned down version of its San Diego Comic-Con presentation with a large open space, some pylons around the outside with video monitors, freebie tables, and areas for signings/appearances. Add to that a couple display cases of products and you’ve got the standard layout. This year was pretty much exactly that, though the items on display had a very definite theme: the 75th anniversary of Batman!
This year the Dark Knight turns 75 and DC is going all out to celebrate the milestone. On display at the WonderCon 2014 booth was a huge collection of Batman-related toys and collectibles from recent years, each with its own placard for a trip down memory lane. Meanwhile, sharp-eyed attendees could pick out some new and upcoming toys as well including a set of Rainbow Batmen (based on the Super Friends body) from 1937’s Detective Comics #241, Li’l Gotham Batman, New 52 Earth 2 Batmen (Bruce & Thomas), Bats from The Animated Series, Batman & Son animated movie Batman, Infinite Crisis Renaissance Batman, Hallmark Ornaments, Tweeterhead statues, plushes, apparel, and even NECA’s 18 inch Arkham Origins Batman!
