    - Jess Horlsey

It's impossible to look at the Hot Toys 1/4 Scale Terminator Endoskeleton figure and not be impressed. Even non-fans and those who don't collectors pop culture collectibles will see this gorgeous work of action figure artwork for the masterpiece it truly is. Standing just over 18" tall, featuring well over 30 points of articulation and authentic detailing in the likeness of the Endoskeleton featured in The Terminator movie, the Hot Toys Quarter Scale 002 figure makes for one of the most impressive releases of 2013.

    PACKAGING

Packaged in a large, eye-catching silver and black box and featuring a die-cut Terminator Endoskeleton's head on the front, the Hot Toys QS002 figure looks amazing - even before you actually see it. Once the package is opened, one finds the 1/4 scale figure and accessories packaged inside the box, surrounded by durable foam to ensure they're protected. Under the first layer of foam, the figure base and the additional, exclusive plasma rifle accessory is packaged.

    SCULPTING, DESIGN & ARTICULATION

The Endoskeleton continues to stand as a testament to the impressive design work of special effects artisians in the 1980s. A marvel of modern science fiction design, the Terminator Endoskeleton continues to live on in not just film but comics, toys, apparel and more. Originally conceived by James Cameron and introduced in the 1984 film The Terminator, this impressive mechanical automaton beautifully sees gorgeous action figure realization here thanks to the amazing artisans at Hot Toys.

Designed using the specifications of the original Endoskeleton featured in fan-favorite film, this gorgeous 1/4 scale figure features a head sculpted by Cha Tae Jin and painted by JC Hong. Every minute detail - from the individually articulated fingers and toes to the hoses and tubes which connect the various parts and pieces of the torso on this mechanical design - are featured here. The Endoskeleton continues to exude a sense of impressive simpleness in its truly complicated design which will - as previously mentioned - impress even non-fans and those who don't collect.

While some have mentioned slight differences to the head and facial design, the changes are minimal. The only real disappointment here is the figure display base, which features broken concrete, lava, rocks and skulls reflecting the war-torn ground seen in the first film. The painting and sculpting doesn't look on the same level as most of Hot Toys' regular work. While it's not a deal breaker and it helps ensure the attention is on the figure and not the base, the base isn't the quality one would expect from a $400 collectible.

    PAINT APPLICATION

The full body save the LED eyes and the cream/white teeth feature electroplating. This gorgeous mirror finish across the diecast and plastic parts makes for the most realistic of Endoskeleton figures created so far.

    SPECIAL FEATURES

The Hot Toys 1/4 Scale Endoskeleton features light-up LED eyes which turn on and off via a small switch on the figure's back. For those who enjoy different display options, the light-up eyes provide a cool way to display the figure.

    COST & OVERALL IMPRESSION

At $400, the higher price point will separate the dedicated Terminator fans from those casual fans who simply enjoyed the films. While most dedicated fans have probably owned multiple versions of the Endoskeleton in three-dimensional form, the Hot Toys QS002 is by far the most impressive poseable version of the Endoskelton released so far. Made of both diecast and plastic parts, featuring chrome electroplating for a beautiful mirror finish and a gorgeous design that continues to impress fans from all over the world.

The 1/4 Scale Hot Toys Terminator Endoskeleton figure is available now wherever fine action figures and collectibles are sold.

Re: REVIEW: Hot Toys 1/4 Scale Endoskeleton

I have this figure (understatement lol) and I love it. But his left shoulder is already having trouble keeping his gun raised and I've taken to just letting that arm hold the gun slung at the hip. I have no idea how to tighten something like this.
