DC COMICS
NECA gives the DC Universe love with numerous Quarter Scale action figure releases.
Man of Steel leads the charge with
Superman (Blue) this August. Also in August, NECA will unleash their
Adam West Batman from the classic 60's TV series. NECA plans to complete the Dynamic Duo in 2014 with the release of
Robin. In DC movie news, the Quarter Scale
Michael Keaton Batman sees store shelves this September. A
Ledger Joker from
The Dark Knight Returns is also planned for 2014. Last but not least, a
Quarter Scale Arkham Origins Batman figure is slated for release in time for the holidays.
RAMBO
NECA' s first figure release -
"First Blood" Rambo - will be followed in August by
"Survival" Rambo (more details on this figure can be found
HERE). In 2014 fans will be treated to Stallone's character from
Rambo II.
BIOSHOCK INFINITE
BioShock Infinite fans will be pleased to know that September will see the release of the
Motorized Patriot (see our story
HERE). On display was an unpainted prototype, the BioShock Infinite "Heavy Hitter" packing a massive Pepper-Mill gatling gun. The figure will also feature two interchangeable heads (Washington and robotic) and two flags of Columbia on its back. While not shown at Comic-Con, NECA informed us that the game's main protagonist -
Booker DeWitt - is currently being worked on and is scheduled to arrive in time for the holidays.
ROBOCOP
NECA's awesome
RoboCop ED-209 is arriving this September (see our story
HERE). In-scale with NECA's 7-inch scale RoboCop action figures, ED-209 measures in at 10-inches tall and features plenty of articulation, as well as movie accurate sounds and dialogue. NECA will re-release their most popular RoboCop figure - Spring-Holster RoboCop - in September so fans that missed out on him have a hero to battle ED.
GREMLINS
NECA's fan-favorite line of Gremlins action figures continues to roll out. The massive
Spider Gremlin (see our story
HERE) was just recently announced and is due out this fall. Also coming this autumn (October) is the fourth series of Mogwais. A third wave of Gremlins was also shown, consisting of some of the most unique additions yet: Greta, a tattooed Gremlin with the "Warner" logo, Mohawk packing an Uzi, and very cool melting witch Gremlin. Unfortunately, sales of the cuddly Mogwais have always been stronger at retail then their more grotesque counterparts. Because of this, NECA is not sure if or when Gremlins Series 3 will see release. Keep your fingers crossed - who ever thought we'd get this far in the series?
THE LONE RANGER
While not the smash hit Disney had hoped for, fans are still loving NECA's Lone Ranger action figures. Following the release of the 7-inch scale Tonto and Lone Ranger in stores now will be a second series of the two in October. This assortment includes the
Lone Ranger (Unmasked) and his trusted Native American companion
Tonto (featuring brand new birdcage accessory which can be placed over his head). 3 3/4" action figures of the pair with in-scale horses, each sold seprately, will see release around the same time the movie heads to home video this November.
VALVE
NECA's license with the video game giant Valve continues on in 2013 with new figures from
Portal 2 and
Team Fortress 2. Portal 2 will receive 7-inch scale action figures of the bumbling robot companions
Atlas and P-Body in September, while WizKids will be releasing a new assortment of mini Portal Turrets in August, followed by a very cool
8-inch DIY Portal Turret in October. Team Fortress 2 gets Series 3 action figures of the
Spy and
Engineer this November.
