    SDCC13: NECA Predator

Series Gets More Dutch, Original Predator, More...

"If it bleeds, we can kill it." 1987's Predator is a sci-fi staple and fans can't get enough of NECA's popular Predator action figure line. New on display at San Diego Comic-Con was a slew of new Predator figures, including more of Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic character "Dutch". The first Dutch figure to catch the attention of fans was a towering Quarter Scale Jungle Patrol Dutch. This bad boy is due out by year's end and if sales are successful NECA will follow-up in '14 with a Quarter Scale "Mud Dutch". In other Quarter Scale news, Big Red and the Elder were on display, both massive figures coming out this August.

Other new Dutch action figures, this time in NECA's tried and true 7-inch scale, include "Thermal" or "Predator Vision" Dutch (a name hasn't been locked). This will most likely be an exclusive of some kind, if not retail then an exclusive for Comic-Con 2014. Next fans will receive a Toys"R"Us exclusive Final Battle Dutch vs Jungle Hunter two-pack. Look for this in October. This set features a bloody Dutch sans shirt and a battle damaged Predator.

Following the September release of Series 10, which is a homage to Kenner's vintage Predator figures, will come Series 11. This assortment will star a newly articulated Elder Predator (Elder 2.0), a masked Wasp Predator from the fan film Batman: Dead End (He didn't wear a mask in the film, but NECA liked the look of the planned mask so much that they went with it instead. Good call.), and most exciting, an all-new original Predator design. This figure, named Battle Armor Lost Predator, features the Lost Predator body, but features a new mask, weapons (shuriken and sword) and body armor (with all-new rotating plasma caster) - all designed in-house at NECA. It's a fantastic concept and something I hope NECA pursues more of in the future. Too cool.
